We're so proud that our intergenerational choir, Sankofa Songsters, were invited to perform at the annual Christmas Carol Service, 'Together at Christmas', hosted by HRH Princess of Wales, Catherine, at Westminster Abbey in December 2024.

30 of the choir's members made the 400-mile round trip to Westminster Abbey after receiving a formal invitation from Kensington Palace to take part in the concert. The invitation marked a significant milestone for the group, who are part of a lineup of musicians, choirs and special guests for one of the UK's most recognised festive events. The service, which has become a cherished fixture in the Royal calendar, celebrates individuals and organisations who have made a positive difference in their communities.

Live the Beat's Amanda Wrigley said:

"We were absolutely honoured to have been invited to perform at the Princess of Wales' Christmas Carol Service. To sing in Westminster Abbey as part of such a meaningful celebration is a privilege, and we can't wait to share the spirit of Christmas with everyone attending and watching at home."

Ian Kearl aged 91, one of the choir member said: "This opportunity brought together both my love of singing and love of my community. It was a very special day and being there with friends who have provided much support and camaraderie over the past year made it even more poignant."

We hope the performance inspires audiences and celebrate the power of music to bring people together during the Christmas season.
