Little Beats inclusive music classes (0–4 years)
Fun, interactive and inclusive music classes for young children
Little Beats is a fully inclusive music class for children in early years’ settings. It is a fun, interactive music programme designed especially for babies, toddlers and young children. Through singing, movement, rhythm and play, sessions support early development by building communication skills, coordination and confidence in a joyful, nurturing environment.
Designed to develop skills set out in the seven areas of learning for Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), the classes hold the attention of young children, supporting co-ordination, listening skills, responding to instruction and sharing.
Little Beats music classes for young children support the development of a wide range of skills. Our kids’ classes are run in the following settings:
-
Charity-run Preschools
-
Private Day Nurseries
-
School-based Nurseries
The Sessions
Our inclusive sessions bring children and nursery staff together through songs, instruments, props, movement and musical games. The work typically focuses on 8-15 children at a time. The length of the session depends on what works best in your particular setting; according to how many children are in the class and their ages and needs. The cost of Little Beats reflects both the time and numbers involved.
A typical session includes music that encourages:
• Movement
• Actions
• Listening
• Instrument use for:
• Rhythm (beating to the music)
• Tempo (quick and slow)
• Dynamics (soft and loud)
Our class leaders bring everything your setting needs for everyone to be included. The
simple melodies, fun props, repetitive lyrics and clear routines are carefully chosen to
engage all children. Nurseries always love the fact we support their staff to use the materials and songs through the rest of the week.
The sessions make a huge different to the children’s speaking and listening skills with many children who maybe shy or reserved, finding their voices and confidence through music. Children who often struggle to focus in group activities are often able to sit and enjoy being part of the music class.

Music Classes for SEND and EAL
Research shows that music has the power to speed up brain development for young learners. And exposing children to musical experiences increases their learning capacity.
Little Beats’ sessions are fully inclusive for all children.
The feedback received in relation to children
with special educational needs has been fantastic.
After just a few weeks the impact can be seen, with nearly 95% of SEND children actively engaging
with sessions and demonstrating improved focus and attention in particular. Little Beats works with
your setting’s SENDCo to plot this progress over time.

What people say about Live The Beat
“Amanda first approached us to do one of her first taster sessions within our setting and, five years on, she continues to support our children. We work closely with Amanda to devise the best strategy for the session and for the children.
Each week is always different bringing in new resources, and the children take part in dancing and playing musical instruments. Classes always cover all seven areas of
EYFS from Communication & Language to Mathematics and Understanding of the World. The children cannot wait for her to arrive and of course her puppet Ricky. We would highly recommend her sessions."
